Wow! First day in port. This is what we have been waiting for after 2 days at sea. We arrived at Gustavia, St. Barts this morning. Let’s get this out of the way. Actual name of the island is St. Barthelemy. The locals call it St. Barth, but we Americans call it St. Barts. I asked a local about this and she just said it is an American thing. Any way, we tendered from the ship to shore at about 9:00 am and walked around looking at really nice yachts, and at shops for the ultra wealthy. They say that this is the island where celebrities and the ultra wealthy go to escape and that we should keep our eyes peeled as you never know who might be behind those sunglasses and floppy hat. Joan and I saw no one we recognized! What a beautiful place, but was hot and sticky. We are not acclimated yet. It was nice to be on land and sit in a shady spot watching people and the beautiful water and lush landscape. See some of our pictures.
We did go into a couple of museums. One to learn more about the history of the island and were fascinated learning about the Swedish influence. At the far end of our walk on the other side of the harbor we found the Wall House Museum which was exhibiting work from the French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. When we got back on board ship it was time to cool down with refreshing smoothies.

Rich and I are loving following along with your adventures!
