Another day in French Polynesia. Today we are tendering into the small island of Moorea. There were a few intermittent light showers. We are only at this port until 4:00 pm this afternoon, then will arrive in Papeete (Tahiti) at 7:00 pm tonight to spend overnight in that port. Moorea is not an atoll, but a heart-shaped island known for its volcanic peaks, turquoise lagoons and relaxed rhythm. Poisson cru ( rare tuna, lime juice and creamy coconut milk) is a national dish, but we did not get to try it, as there was only a grocery store and pizza shop within walking distance of the dock. Maybe we will get to eat this on a later island.
We did not get on a tour today, as we were on the wait list. Late morning, we tendered to shore and walked around for several blocks, then looked around some vendors tables that were set up on the dock. The two towns were too far to walk and they really did not have very much of interest to warrant the trip.
