March 11 & 12, 2026- Days 66 & 76

Two more days at sea. Joan and I did the usual sports events and saw another cooking demonstration by the head chef and two of his other chefs. Reported ratio is 1 chef for every 10 passengers, so that is about 120 chefs onboard the Oceania Vista. They also like to have fun and entertain while giving cooking tips and recipes.

On this current segment, a couple have come aboard and leading an event called, Sing Out Loud. They are practicing and at some point will do a public concert. Right up Joan’s alley.

Saw the first of two shows by comedian Andrew Grose from Canada, called An Idiots Guide to Marriage. Very funny guy who states his wife writes most of his material.

Lectures these two days were a History of Hawaii, and Pearl Harbor- The Day That Changed Everything. This was a good discussion about the events that lead up to, and followed the attack that occurred on December 7, 1941. I learned a lot about how the US become so vulnerable by being poorly prepared and missing several warning signs prior to the attack. Lastly, we had a talk from the destinations staff about our next two ports, Honolulu and Kailua- Kona.

The weather did clear up a little, so I was able to get some pool time. We also had the finals of the ship board event called the Amazing Race Around the Vista. One team dropped out, so the Cruise Director and Assistant Cruise Director stepped in as the final team. After they had to participate, they decided that the two teams who won the heats would become co-champions, as all four teams were utterly exhausted.
