February 4, 2026- Day #31

Due to the geography and a new group of people joining the voyage in Buenos Aires, we are stopping back at the mouth of the bay, in Montevideo Uruguay. By the way, I was asked by Jan about the people on the ship. There are about 250 people on the entire around the world cruise. Some got on in Los Angeles and came through the Panama Canal to Miami. Then most of the around the world cruisers embarked in Miami and will go around until we return in Miami. There are also several hundred passengers getting on and off at the major ports (Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Lima, San Diego, etc.). There are somewhere around fourteen of these “segments” during the entire trip.

Now, back to today. We did not plan for another tour in this city, but planned to just walk to Mercado del Puerto and get lunch. Late morning we did this and found a nice outdoor cafe for a glass of local beer and empanadas for lunch and people watching. In my broken Spanish we were able to make sure we got our order right and that they would take my American Express credit card. Along the Mercado we went into several shops but walked back to the ship early because of the excessive heat.

Back on ship there was a Captain’s Cocktail party, then dinner in the main dining room. The evening show was a very high energy show called Tango Cervila: Cesar and Soledad. The theater was packed with standing room only for this wonderful Tango show.

Also, uploaded a picture of some Navy ships in port with us. The picture really does not do look very impressive, but I think there were four or five ships moored.
