March 17, 2026- Day #72

Although this is day 4 of 5 of this run of sea days, it is a very busy day with it being St. Patrick’s Day. The cruise director and his staff hit 60 Leprechauns around the ship, one worth 100 of those Big “O” points. I figured out where it was hidden and went to the casino to search, but I did not check on the top of every slot machine and therefore did not find that pesky Leprechaun. We had French Polynesian immigration on board to check every passenger disembarking to verify their credentials. It was an interesting process to watch.

We heard an interesting talk on Nuclear Testing in the Pacific and how this is still having an effect on certain islands and cultures. I never understood that the US, UK, and France conducted 318 nuclear tests in the Pacific from 1946 to 1996. This continued even for 5 years after the end of the Cold War.

The evening was filled with entertainment. First an excellent violinist by the name of Irina Guskova. What a lot of talent and energy. After dinner we went to the lounge and I got in on a trivia completion against many of the evening trivia teams and I got 14 out of 17 points in a tie for second place. We then attended the St. Paddy’s Pub Party which was a sing a long of Irish music and green cocktail, called a Green Culture. I will try to post a picture or two of the party.
